The restructured company will trade from 10 January
Historic Bristol-based Smiles Brewery has been saved from closure - but almost half of the company's workforce will lose their jobs.

The firm had been operating at a loss for several years and went into administration in November 2004.

It has won a reprieve after signing a partnership deal with Coors brewers and a "production under licence" agreement with Highgate Brewery.

But 10 of the company's 25 staff will be made redundant.

A sister company, Smiles Pub Co Ltd will run two pubs: the Brewery Tap and The Cornubia in Bristol.

The company will retain a brewing presence in Bristol and develop the brewery site in Colston Yard.
