Hot tracks slow commuter trains
Hot weather is causing delays for rail passengers as 20 mph speed limits are imposed on three sections of track.

A spokesman for First Great Western said the speed limits had been imposed for safety reasons by Network Rail.

The affected sections are: Paddington to south Wales east of Parkway; west of Swindon on the Paddington to Temple Meads line and Somerton, on the West of England line.

Restrictions are likely to be removed late on Thursday as temperatures fall.

They are necessary because the rails lengthen in the heat and there is a risk of them buckling.
