Meeting debates hospital plans
Plans for a new community hospital for south Bristol are being put to the public at a meeting on Wednesday evening.

The hospital is due to be built on a site at Hengrove Park.

Bristol South and West Primary Care Trust decided to build the facility after a board meeting heard the plan had almost "universal support".

The meeting takes place at The Bush Resource Centre, 12 New Fosseway, in Hengrove, starting at 1900 BST.

The hospital could now open within four years if planning permission is obtained from Bristol City Council.

Deborah Evans, the trust's chief executive, said the hospital would not provide a large range of services.

"It will not have an accident and emergency department or be a main specialist hospital," she said.
