Match making factory up in flames

Avon Fire Brigade launched a full scale operation on Tuesday after an explosion at a matchmaking factory in Bristol.

Fire crews raced to Octavuis Hunt in Dove Lane, Redfield during the afternoon.

The blaze was quickly brought under control and no one is reported injured, said the brigade.

Police say because of the incident there are traffic problems around the area caused by the large number of fire engines that attended.


Trapped cow dies after pylon rescue

Firefighters called out the RSPCA and SWEB to help release a cow which became trapped in pylon wires.

The animal, which was stuck in a field in Broom Hill near Bristol, had fallen over trying to free itself.

It took an hour to release it, but despite efforts to save it, the cow died from the ordeal.


Works starts on city's new bus station

Work begins this week on Bristol's new bus station.

Some services will operate from temporary stops and the station will close on several weekends over the coming months.

All National Express coaches and the Bristol International Flyer will continue to operate out of the depot.

The new building is due to open in the summer of 2005.
