Teacher sentenced for child porn
A teacher who downloaded child porn on to a computer he later donated to his school has been sentenced to a three-month community rehabilitation order.

Nigel Chambers, 36, of Rodborough, Yate, near Bristol, had admitted one count of making indecent photos of children between 1999 and 2002.

The images were found on the PC he gave to Rednock Comprehensive, Dursley.

The judge at Bristol Crown Court said she was "satisfied they would not have been accessible".

Chambers also pleaded guilty to four counts of attempting to make indecent photos of children between October 2002 and January 2003 on a home computer.

Robert Davies, prosecuting, said a "successful operation of evidence wiping software had been installed" on this second computer and police software was used to trace it.

Judge Carol Hagen said he would be assessed after three months and if suitable, take part in a sex offenders programme. He is on the sex offenders register for five years.

She said: "It is always a sad day when the court has to deal with someone such as you."

David Webster, defending, said Chambers was "not fully able to articulate" why he accessed the images.

Mr Webster said Chambers had been "highly regarded".
