Wallet snatched during robbery

A man was punched in the chest and robbed as he made his way home from work at just after midnight on 6 September when he was attacked just outside Asda in East Street.

He was approached from behind by a man who searched his pockets and stole items including his wallet.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his early 20s, about 5ft 11ins, of medium to slim build with dark greased hair.

He was wearing a white jumper with a large tick on the front, blue jeans and white trainers.


Country park closes its doors

A tourist attraction open for 25 years near Bristol is to close.

Old Down Country Park at Tockington, which included a miniature steam train, go-karts, trailer rides and an adventure area, was designed to give city people an insight into rural life.

The Park is to become a working farm, after owner Robert Bernays said it was time to retire.


Minister in school visit

Sports Minister Richard Caborn will visit two Bristol schools on Wednesday, to see work funded by the National Lottery.

He will meet students at Ashton Park Secondary School, a specialist sports college, and St Pauls Sports Academy.

In the past five years more than £6m has been spent on improving Ashton Park.
