Police investigate stairwell murder
Paul Belgium
Paul Belgium was found dead at the Barton Hill flats on Saturday
Police investigating the murder of a man found dead in the stairwell of a block of flats in Bristol have arrested a man.

Paul Belgium, 33, formally from Lawrence Hill, was found at Barton House in Aitken Street, Barton Hill at 1030 GMT on Saturday.

A post mortem examination proved inconclusive and detectives are awaiting the results of further tests, but say they are treating the death as murder.

A man in his 40s was arrested and questioned on Sunday, but later released on police bail.

Shouting heard

Officers investigating the death say shouting was heard at the flats shortly before a resident found the body of Mr Belgium.

Detectives have also issued a description of the dead man in the hope someone may have seen him in the area.

He is said to be white, about 5 ft 11 in tall, of stocky build, with brown eyes. He was clean shaven, with shaved hair and tattooed arms.

He was wearing wearing blue jogging bottoms, a blue running top with white Adidas logo and was carrying a fawn-coloured fleece jacket.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Avon and Somerset Police or Crimestoppers.
