Bristol pool out of deep water
Plans for a new Olympic size swimming pool in Bristol look set to be given the green light.

The 50 metre pool is part of a new £20m leisure complex planned in the near future for Hengrove.

Liberal Democrat councillors had wanted the pool sited elsewhere in Bristol, but were defeated at a city council meeting on Tuesday.

The plans must still be approved by the full council at a later date.

There are only two other 50 metre pools in the region: one at Bath University and the other at Millfield School near Street.

Neither has the spectator facilities to hold regional or national competitions.

New plans for Hengrove include a snow dome and a children's pool.
