Three men have been injured - one critically - in a hammer attack in a Bristol park.
The trio, all in their late 40s and early 50s, were set upon by a black man wielding a hammer and a weightlifting barbell.
All three were taken to hospital suffering broken bones after being struck by a number of blows from the improvised weapons.
One, a 54-year-old, suffered a fractured skull. He is currently in a critical condition.
'Unprovoked assault'
The men were attacked in Mina Road Park and Mina Road itself in the St Werburghs area at 2150 BST on Monday.
Police investigating the assault believe it was unprovoked, but say it may be connected to an earlier row between the three injured men and a group of youths.
The three victims live in a hostel nearby and are regular visitors to the park.
Officers want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything connected with the incident, however minor.
