A man has died after a fire at a city centre tower block in Bristol.

The fire broke out in a flat on the 12th floor of Armada House in Dove Street, Kingsdown, at about 15.25 BST on Thursday.

Paramedics treated the middle-aged man, who is thought to have suffered a heart attack, at the scene after firefighters found him on a staircase in the block.

But he later died in hospital.

Five fire crews were called to the scene, and put out the flames using breathing apparatus, hoses and platforms.

No-one else was injured, but the flat where the fire began was burned out.
