Man critically ill after attack

A man is critically ill in hospital after being attacked in West Yorkshire.

Police were called to Long Causeway in Dewsbury at about 0430 GMT on Saturday where the injured 29-year-old was being carried through the town centre.

A police spokesman said an incident had occurred at the Black Bull pub before the man was found.

A boy aged 17, two men aged 23 and a 22-year-old man were held on suspicion of assault. A girl, aged 16, was held on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All five have been released on bail.

Police particularly want to speak to two witnesses - a man who left the pub with the victim and another who spoke to two males at McDonalds who were carrying the injured man.
