Train journeys from Huddersfield to Leeds have been disrupted

Thieves who stole lengths of copper cable alongside a railway line in West Yorkshire caused disruption for thousands of football fans.

Supporters of Huddersfield Town and Leeds United travelling on the route into Leeds from the Pennine town had their journeys diverted.

Police said the thieves stripped out the valuable cable in the Cottingley area of Leeds overnight.

Trains were being diverted to Wakefield and passed through Batley.
