New 2,000-seat church opens doors

Huddersfield Christian Fellowship Church
The church is built on a 3.7-acre site near the town centre

A new £12m church which can accommodate up to 2,000 worshippers has opened its doors in Huddersfield.

The church was built for the Huddersfield Christian Fellowship on the site of a former engineering works off St Thomas' Road.

Its first service was held on Sunday following a march through the town by members of the congregation.

The new site, which is double the size of the old building, includes a coffee shop, play area and seminar rooms.
