Heavy pumps prevent lake flooding
Dozens of fire and rescue crews spent Tuesday night manning emergency high volume pumps to prevent a West Yorkshire lake bursting its banks.

Teams from West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and Greater Manchester were at the scene off Stoney Lane in the Cottingley area with heavy pumps.

The volume of the lake had been swollen by continuous heavy rainfall.

By Wednesday morning crews were hopeful the 20m cubic metres of water could be held back and not breach the dam wall.
