Guard hurt in cash machine raid
A security guard is in hospital after being injured during an armed robbery at a supermarket in West Yorkshire.

The 32-year-old guard was delivering money to a cash machine at the Tesco store in Northgate, Cleckheaton, when he was attacked by two men.

The men - wearing hooded tops and possibly face coverings - escaped with a cash box and left in a black Seat Leon car driven by a third man.

The guard is said to be in a stable condition at Dewsbury Hospital.

The Seat car was found abandoned shortly after the robbery on Birkett Street.

The robbers are thought to have then used a silver Audi estate car.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the robbery happened at a busy time of day and CCTV footage has shown there were many witnesses.

He urged witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
