Man held after canal sex attack

The girl was first assaulted outside Shipley's Christ Church

Detectives investigating an attack on a schoolgirl who was sexually assaulted and dumped in a canal have arrested a 48-year-old man.

The 15-year-old girl was dragged into the grounds of Christ Church in Shipley and subjected to a serious assault.

She was then taken down a path near Shipley canal where she was assaulted again and pushed into the water.

West Yorkshire Police said a 48-year-old local man had been arrested and was being held in custody.
