Pair hurt in armed robbery spree
Armed robbers carried out a series of violent attacks on newsagents in Featherstone on Monday morning.

Eyewitnesses said the two robbers hit one person with a hammer and knifed another during raids in Pontefract Road, Green Lane and Featherstone Lane.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed two men had been taken to hospital with head injuries and two men had been arrested.

Links between the robberies and two burglaries in nearby Pontefract earlier on Monday are being investigated.

A Vauxhall Nova car believed to belong to the suspects was later recovered in Cutsyke on the outskirts of Castleford.
