Masked raiders, one armed with a sledgehammer, threatened customers and staff at a West Yorkshire post office before escaping with cash.
The two men struck at the Haigh Moor Road branch, in Tingley, near Wakefield, on Monday morning.
A police spokesman said one man struggled with a female staff member before taking cash from a safe.
The raiders left in a stolen green Jeep Cherokee which was later found abandoned nearby. No one was hurt.
