Ab Fab outfits sold at Berkshire auction

Absolutely Fabulous
Jennifer Saunders, Joanna Lumley and Julia Sawalha starred in the BBC series

Outfits worn by Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley in the cult BBC sitcom Absolutely Fabulous have been been sold for more than £1,000 at auction.

The TV and film memorabilia sale took place at Cameo Auctions in Midgham, near Reading, Berkshire.

Costumes from Poirot, the TV detective series about a Belgian sleuth, and the science fiction film Alien 3 also went under the hammer.

A Dr Who coat was sold to a collector in Cornwall for £500.

Among the original props up for sale was a glass used by actor Bob Hoskins in the film Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

A spokesman from the auctioneers said several Sherlock Holmes costumes, including a dinner jacket from the Hound of the Baskervilles 1939, used on screen by Nigel Watson as Dr Watson, were auctioned.

Ms Saunders wrote and starred in the Absolutely Fabulous series as fashion publicist Edina with Joanna Lumley as her best friend Patsy, who both drive Eddie's sensible teenage daughter, Saffron, to distraction with their wild behaviour.
