Trucker bailed in Berkshire immigrants case

A driver who was arrested after eight suspected illegal immigrants were found climbing out the back of his lorry in Berkshire has been bailed.

The six women and two men, believed to be from Iraq and Iran, were spotted by a police officer at the Twin Bridges roundabout, Bracknell, on Wednesday.

All were arrested and are being held in a detention centre.

The 52-year-old Estonian driver was held on suspicion of immigration offences, the UK Border Agency said.

Rob Allen, head of the UK Border Agency's Berkshire local immigration team, said: "Our policy is clear, when suspected illegal entrants are found on lorries, immigration officers attend quickly in all cases."
