Police believe the robbers left on foot towards the town centre

Two men, one armed with a handgun, have raided a McDonald's in Berkshire after forcing the manager to open the doors. The female worker was in the closed restaurant in Oxford Road, Reading, when the men forced her to open the doors just after 0500 GMT. Once inside, the raiders stole cash from the tills, thought to be in the hundreds of pounds. Officers believe they then left on foot, walking towards the town centre. The men were wearing dark clothing. Det Sgt Ashley Hannibal, from Reading CID, said: "This was obviously a distressing incident for the restaurant manager and we are in the process of debriefing her to find out more information. "I would stress that this type of incident is rare in Reading and that we are doing everything possible to catch the offender."
