Food safety training for outlets

Hundreds of local businesses in Windsor and Maidenhead are being given training to improve food safety.

The borough council has secured £52,000 from the Food Standards Agency to provide the courses.

About 100 food catering businesses, which have been classed as "high-risk", will get a three-hour coaching session and a one-hour follow-up visit.

Another 200 catering and retail businesses, classed as "compliant", will get a two-hour coaching session.

Priority will be given to businesses that were just above or below the necessary level of compliance in recent routine food hygiene inspections.

Phill Bicknell, lead member for public protection, said: "We are committed to making sure that eating out in the Royal Borough is as safe as possible and that standards in catering establishments continue to rise."
