Police lights stolen from crash

Motorists and police were put in danger when four flashing police lights were stolen from the scene of a crash in Berkshire.

The lights were stolen after Thames Valley Police closed Mill Lane, Sindlesham, on Friday evening.

But the theft also prevented the police car involved from attending other traffic incidents that night because it did not have all its equipment.

Police said the area was very busy at the time and appealed for witnesses.

Pc Phil Hall said: "This was a dark and miserable evening with heavy rainfall and yet someone decided to come along and take the blue flashing lights from our road closure.

"The area was very busy at the time with lots of people using this route as a short cut to avoid congestion on the M4, so I am confident that someone may have seen something."
