Bogus workers arrested after raid

Three men have been found working illegally at a Berkshire catering company.

Immigration officers raided the Chef in a Box, on the Pyle Industrial Estate, Colnbrook, near Slough, on Tuesday.

Two men were found to be failed asylum seekers and the third was working in breach of his visa. All three, who are Indian nationals, face deportation.

The two asylum seekers are suspected of having used counterfeit ID documents to gain employment.

'Stringent checks'

Insp Dick Stratton, of the UK Border Agency, said: "We're committed to removing people who have no right to be or work in the UK and we're working closely with other agencies and local authorities to do that".

A spokesperson for Chef in a Box said the company was "saddened" by the incident.

It added: "It appears the documents presented to the company by the individuals are suspected to be counterfeit.

"We will continue to work closely with the Border & Immigration Agency in the future, whilst maintaining our already stringent checks."
