Glass of wine Floyd, who was born near Reading in Berkshire, was buried in a hand-made coffin made of banana leaves. The ceremony, on 30 September, included a reading of Rudyard Kipling's poem If and a performance of a song called Keith Floyd Blues by Bill Padley. The chef's daughter Poppy read a tribute to her father, saying: "You would have definitely preferred to have been a rock star called Elvis than a famous cook called Keith Floyd." From the 1980s, Floyd presented a number of popular cookery programmes in which he could often be seen clutching a glass of wine.
