Warning over illegal taxi adverts

People in Berkshire are being warned against using illegal taxi firms advertising airport transfers.

Slough council said adverts offering a taxi service for airport pick-up and drop-offs by unlicensed drivers had been found in Polish shops in the area.

Licensing officer Rachael Rumney said any individual transporting members of the public and receiving payment must be licensed as a driver.

Their vehicle must also be licensed for them to operate, she added.

"We take great pride in working with the Polish community and are committed to their welfare and safety," Ms Rumney said.
