Community carnival in 32nd year

Reading Community Carnival 2009
The Reading Community Carnival is in its 32nd year

Thousands of people have turned out for the 32nd Reading Community Carnival, which showcases Caribbean culture.

The carnival festivities began in Prospect Park at 1230 BST, with the main procession winding its way through the streets of west Reading.

Music, sound systems and cook-offs were among the dozens of events.

Reading is home to the largest Barbadian community outside the Caribbean and an estimated 5,000 people attended the event.
