Driver dies in lamppost collision

A man died after the car he was driving collided with a lamppost in Berkshire.

The man, in his 60s, was driving a Volvo V70 estate when it crashed on Richfield Avenue, Reading, near to the junction with Tessa Road.

He was taken to The Royal Berkshire Hospital where he later died. Police said they did not believe any other vehicles were involved.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which happened between 0600 and 0630 GMT on Thursday.
