Woman, 92, killed in house fire

Emergency services attended the fire in Silverdale Road, Earley

An elderly woman has died in a fire at a property in Berkshire.

The 92-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the blaze at a house in Silverdale Road, in the Earley area of Reading.

Firefighters were called at 0950 GMT and found a blaze in the corridor of the building. They remained on scene until 1025 GMT.

Police and fire investigators have been examining the scene although the fire was not thought to be suspicious.
