Closures in high street makeover

Slough High Street
Diversions will be in place during the High Street makeover

Road closures are expected to last three months in a Berkshire town while its high street has a makeover.

Slough Borough Council will be carrying out improvement works in High Street from 5 January, 2009, for 12 weeks.

Roads closed to traffic include Windsor Road and Church Street, and Alpha Street North to The Grove.

The work will include laying a new road surface using imported granite paving blocks - part of the council's Art at the Centre £6m revitalisation project.

Two permanent artworks by designer Anne Smyth have been laid and take the form of two droplet-shaped islands, textured in granite, terrazzo and slate.

It is part of a wider £450m Heart of Slough makeover for the town.
