Escaping car thief injures owner

A woman was seriously hurt when she was hit by her own car which was stolen as she cleared ice from the windscreen.

The woman, aged in her 40s, was approached by a man in Humber Way, Langley, Slough, at about 0730 GMT.

He got into her car, and as he drove away she was hit and sustained serious internal, arm and leg injuries.

The stolen car is a champagne-coloured Citroen Picasso with the registration number MC02 CAZ. Police have appealed for witnesses.

The man is described as white and in his 30s.

Det Insp Steve Armstead, of Slough CID, said: "An investigation is under way with a number of inquiries being carried out this morning.

"We are currently liaising with our neighbouring forces in a bid to locate this stolen vehicle and the person responsible."

The woman is being treated at Wexham Park Hospital.
