Christmas crackdown on burglars

Career criminals will be targeted in the run-up to Christmas as part of a crackdown on burglaries in a Berkshire town over the festive period.

Thames Valley Police said they will be using surveillance, hi-tech equipment and acting on intelligence from fellow criminals to catch burglars.

A spokesman said they are expecting to execute a large number warrants across Reading by targeting known offenders.

Residents with information about burglaries are urged to contact police.

A police spokesman said: "Many of the burglars would be surprised how many of their mates will turn them in to try to save their own skin."
