Woman found dead and man stabbed

A 24-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was found dead and another man was stabbed in Berkshire.

Police were called at 0700 GMT following a report that a 22-year-old man had been stabbed at a property in The Crescent, Chalvey, Slough.

He was taken to Wexham Park Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Police inquiries led them to an address in Ledgers Road, Slough, where a 19-year-old woman was seriously hurt.

She was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by paramedics.

'Reassure community'

A post-mortem examination is being carried out establish the cause of death.

The 24-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder was still in police custody.

Supt Chris Shead, of Thames Valley Police, said: "I would like to reassure the local community that a thorough investigation is under way.

"The full facts of this morning's incident are being established, but we believe that both incidents are linked."

A number of police community support officers have been deployed in Chalvey to provide reassurance.
