Man charged in 'explosives' find

Police found the device while searching a man at Lowestoft railway station

A man has been charged and released on bail over a suspected explosive device found at a Suffolk railway station.

Police discovered the device when they searched a man at Lowestoft railway station on Thursday and bomb disposal experts were called to make it safe.

Forensic science officers also searched a property in Reading, Berkshire, on Friday, police said.

Neil Lewington, 43, of Tilehurst, Reading, is charged with possession of an article to cause criminal damage.

He has also been charged with a public order offence.

Police say he was stopped at Lowestoft railway station after allegations of abuse against one of the staff there.

Mr Lewington has now been released from custody after questioning and bailed to appear before Lowestoft Magistrates' Court on 11 November.
