Public loos get £900,000 makeover

Ten public toilets in a Berkshire town are to be brought up to date as part of a £900,000 refurbishment programme.

The public conveniences across Reading will be modernised over a 10-month period, the borough council said.

They will be demolished and either replaced with new facilities within the existing structure or with a "stand alone" unit next to the site.

Prospect Park is part of the upgrade, which begins next Monday and will be completed in September 2009.
