Parking space plan views sought

A public consultation for plans which could see almost 2,000 more parking spaces being created in a Berkshire town over the next decade has begun.

Some 60,000 leaflets featuring plans to ease Windsor's parking problems will be distributed to homes by Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council.

The strategy includes 200-400 park and ride spaces at Windsor Racecourse.

A three-day exhibition about the options will be held at the Guildhall, High Street, Windsor, from Thursday.

Council leader David Burbage said: "The draft strategy is the result of considerable research, which means we can bring forward workable proposals that could potentially deliver significant benefits for Windsor people.

"It is part of a bigger plan to improve local travel for pedestrians, cyclists and people using bus and train services and I am looking forward to getting the views of residents who know the town and can provide valuable feedback on these innovative proposals."
