Music festival wristband warning

Music fans attending the Reading Festival over the bank holiday weekend have been warned not to buy second-hand entry wristbands.

Thames Valley Police have reported a number of people having their wristbands forced from their arms.

But police said that, as of Friday afternoon, only 48 offences had been reported - a decrease on last year.

More than 75,000 people will attend the annual event to see acts including The Killers and Rage Against the Machine.

Ch Insp Shaun Virtue said: "There is a significant reduction in crime compared to this time last year.

"The atmosphere around the festival continues to be very good.

"However, I would urge people not to increase their chances of becoming a victim of crime by leaving their valuables unattended in a tent.

"Please don't to be tempted to buy second-hand wristband as you will be denied entry with these."
