Warning over drain cover thefts

Police are hunting for thieves who have stolen dozens of drain covers from roads in a Berkshire town.

A total of 42 covers have been stolen in the Langley and Cippenham areas of Slough over the past ten days.

It is believed the drain covers, which are made from high-value metal, are being sold as scrap.

The borough council said it was likely to cost more than £6,000 to replace the covers. Cyclists and pedestrians are warned to watch out for holes.
