Digger used in bungled cash theft

Thieves used a digger to remove a cash machine from the wall of a bank in Berkshire but fled empty-handed after crashing their truck into a wall.

After driving the digger into the HSBC branch in Chobham Road, Sunningdale, they loaded the cash machine onto a white Nissan flatbed truck.

Shortly afterwards, the Nissan hit a wall in Larch Avenue and the offenders abandoned the vehicle.

Police said they then fled in another car and have appealed for witnesses.
