A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 17-year-old boy in a suspected street fight in Reading.

Robert Spence, of Burghfield Common, Berkshire, died in hospital on Friday. Police believe two gangs were involved.

Post-mortem tests revealed Robert died from a single stab wound to the heart. Two other men remain in hospital.

A 27-year-old, of High Wycombe, Bucks, was held on Monday. Police are urging potential witnesses to come forward.

Det Ch Insp Stan Gilmour, of Thames Valley Police, said: "Although we have made an arrest our investigation is still at an early stage and we continue to appeal for witnesses."

On Monday Robert's mother, Sandra Blake, paid tribute to her "hard-working" son, who she called Junior.

She said: "He was a hard-working boy, very helpful and always smiling.

"He wasn't a trouble-maker. He was well-mannered and respectful to others."
