Machete attack by house burglars
Two men were injured by burglars carrying machetes who ransacked a house in Berkshire.

The victims were held in a bedroom while three men ransacked the property in St Michael's Road, Reading.

Two of the offenders were carrying large bladed weapons. Two laptops, a mobile phone and cash were stolen.

Police investigating the attack, which happened between 1730 and 1800 GMT on 24 November, said the offenders were in their early to mid 20s.

One was white, about 5ft 10in tall, of medium build and was wearing a dark hooded top with a football-style scarf covering his face.

The other was black, about 6ft 2in, of stocky build, and was wearing a dark hooded top and scarf that covered his face.

The third was of mixed race, between 5ft 10in and 6ft, medium build, and was wearing a light grey hooded jumper.

Pc Alex Ismestiev, of Reading police, said: "The two occupants, aged in their 20s, were injured as a result of being attacked with the weapons.

"One of them received a minor cut to his neck and finger while the other sustained more serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital where he was treated for numerous gashes to his body."
