Six members of a Conwy volunteer rescue service are flying out to Majorca help search for a missing holiday rep.

Jacqueline Tennant, 45, from Reading in Berkshire who was working for First Choice in Alcudia Bay, was last seen on 8 October.

The team from Global Rescue Services, which is based at Penmaenmawr, are planning to search the nearby hills.

Spanish police are investigating and First Choice has also said it was doing "everything in its power" to find her.

A spokesperson for the company has described Ms Tennant as an avid walker who like to explore the Spanish island on her days off.

You have to make sure you're keeping options open
Gavin Roberts, Global Rescue Services

Global Rescue Services is a registered charity made up of volunteers who are willing to go anywhere in the world to help with searches.

The team of six plan to fly out to Majorca on Monday and return on Friday.

Chairman Gavin Roberts, who is not flying out, said they would be keeping an open mind as to what had happened to the children's swimming coach.

Mr Roberts said of the six two would act as search managers and carry out an investigation, which would include interviewing Ms Tenant's family, friends and colleagues to build up a picture for the team.

They will also determine which areas have already been searched by local police and prioritise areas to search themselves.

He said: "You have to make sure you're keeping options open.

"It's very difficult, you don't know what the person's mind set was... did they have an accident.

"This is why two search managers as part of the six come up with all sorts of possibilities to help the troops that are in the hills, to direct them to areas of high probability," he explained.

Mr Roberts said the team could not take search dogs out with them as they were not allowed on the plane, but they did have contacts in Spain who they could ask if the animals were needed.
