'Few' arrests at Ascot second day

More than 300,000 spectators are expected to visit the track this year
Nineteen people were arrested on the second day of Royal Ascot, which attracted more than 41,000 spectators.

Thames Valley Police said the majority of arrests on Wednesday had been for public order offences but two youths were found with an offensive weapon.

Supt Mike Ismay said: "There have been no major concerns with policing the event over the past two days.

"Given the number of people in attendance, the arrest rate has been comparatively very low."

Supt Ismay, who is charge of policing the event, added: "We will continue to work closely with Ascot Racecourse Limited to ensure that the remaining days will be enjoyed by all."
