Six held in anti-nuclear protest
Aldermaston Atomic Weapons Establishment
The six were arrested during the protest on Monday morning
Six people have been arrested after protestors gathered at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE).

About 20 people turned out at the centre in Aldermaston, Berkshire, for the protest on Monday, police said.

Five people were held on suspicion of causing danger to road users and one person for obstructing an officer.

Campaigners said they will be at the site every month to protest against a laser being developed there to simulate the conditions of a nuclear reaction.

Plans for the multi-million pound upgrade were approved by planners in west Berkshire earlier this year.

Project Orion is part of a three-year £1bn Ministry of Defence boost for AWE.
