Action taken to stop bike thefts
Plain-clothed police officers are to take to the streets to try to catch thieves behind a spate of bike thefts.

Teams of officers on bikes and on foot will be patrolling known "hotspots" in Slough, Berkshire, after a rise in thefts was reported.

The thieves have been targeting bikes left in the town centre by shoppers or workers, Thames Valley Police said.

"The thieves are opportunists who will steal any type of bike, new or old, valuable or not," a spokesman said.
