Police fire Taser on sword woman
Police have used a Taser stun gun to incapacitate a woman after she threatened a family member and tried to kill herself with a sword.

The woman, in her 20s, fled with the weapon when armed officers arrived at an address in Manor Park, Slough, Berkshire, in the early hours.

She was found nearby and a Taser was fired after negotiations failed.

A woman was later arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and threats to kill.

Ch Supt Brian Langston, of Thames Valley Police said: "Officers often face extremely challenging situations and their prompt actions here may well have saved the woman's life."

Thames Valley Police has used Tasers since 2004.
