Clear-up after major town blaze
Oxford Road fire
Firefighters remained on the scene throughout Saturday
The clear-up is continuing after a major fire in Reading town centre tore through a five-storey building, destroying shops and flats.

Fire crews were at the scene on Oxford Road throughout Saturday making the building safe.

Police officers cordoned off the area amid fears that high winds could dislodge loose debris, endangering shoppers and passers-by.

A group of workmen had been in the building but escaped without injury.
