River rowing death boy identified

The 14-year-old was rowing on the Thames in Caversham.
A boy who drowned after he fell out of his boat on the River Thames at the weekend has been named.

Sikander Farooq, 14, fell from the one-man vessel during a rowing lesson on the river at Caversham, Reading, on Sunday morning.

His body was found about three hours later following a search by divers and helicopter crews.

The inquest into the Tilehurst teenager's death was opened and adjourned on Tuesday.
