Plans for development on display
Local person checks out the plans for Newbury
Many residents took the chance to check out the plans
People were able to give their views on the plans for the redevelopment of Newbury town centre on Thursday.

Developers intend to build more than 150 houses as well as a new shopping development and parking for 650 cars on the Park Way site in the town.

A model and video images of the development was on display at an exhibition at Weavers Walk just off Northbrook Street.

If the plans are approved the building would be finished by 2009.

The Shearer Property Group has been working on the plans for two-and-a-half years.

Guy Shearer, from the company, said: "We now have a scheme which we feel confident is the right scheme to show the public.

"We hope to submit a planning application in about three months so this is actually the first opportunity the public have had to come and look at what we propose for Newbury."
