Slough Council hopes to introduce 20mph speed limit on roads
Residents are being given the chance to lodge their views on plans to introduce 20mph speed limits to cut the number of people killed in accidents.

Slough Borough Council hopes to install new speed zones in Trelawney Avenue Estate, Manor Park and Windsor Meadows.

The areas were chosen due to the amount of schools and elderly people in the nearby area.

In the past three years, more than 270 people have died or been hurt in speed-related crashes in the borough.

Councillor Dexter Smith, commissioner for transportation and planning, said: "One person killed or injured on Slough's roads is one too many.

"We have asked residents if they would support our proposals to cut the speed limit in their area because we want to do everything we can to prevent these injuries."

Each new zone will be self-enforcing - they will not be enforced through police action or speed cameras - so the council's plans include a series of traffic calming measures to ensure speeds of 20mph or less.
